After being encouraged by several bloggers I have decided to join this world! I teach third grade in Warsaw and have a very energetic and exciting classroom! I look forward to the support that this community of educators can provide as we are entering the world of Readers' Workshop. We have been implementing workshop techniques all school year but are going completely on board on Monday! Our book boxes came in today and we made our readers' notebooks, which took the excitement in our classroom to a whole new level! My kids are ecstatic about what the workshop is going to do for them as readers.
I am also very excited about an author study that we are starting for my portfolio for the state of Indiana. We are going to do an author study on Patricia Polacco and even have an independent author visiting our classroom this coming week to discuss crafts of writing with my kids! The author study will end up being an EdComm project for my classroom as well, which works perfectly!
If anyone has any books that they enjoy using in their readers' workshops I would definitely enjoy hearing about them!
